Betting & Types of Bets

There are some games like the craps, where betting is complicated. However, in case of Roulette, it is very easy. In US Casinos, all the players get a different color chip. In case of the European Casinos, all the players get the same color chips. The US Casinos do it, so that it is easy for them to make out, who has bet on what. In the European casinos, the color of chips changes with the table.

When you buy any chips, it means that you are placing money on any of the Roulette tables. The color and the number of chips will make the dealer understand and keep a record of what you need. When you place the bet and after sometimes, dealer utters the words "No More Bets", it means that the round is over and you are not allowed to lay any more chips on the table for bet. The players are not even permitted to touch the chips when the dealer announces the same thing. Even though American and European Roulette are quite different from one another, the bets involved in both the versions are the same.


One of the bets named "Inside bets" is the one, where the player has to select the bet on the basis of the number, on which the ball will land. All the numbers on the slot from 0-36 are included in this. There are numerous Inside Bets available with the Roulette.

Straight bets - Bet on any number including 0. 35 - 1, are the payouts here.

Split bets - The chips are to be placed between any two numbers and the payouts here are 17 - 1.

Street/Trio bet - Chips are placed on the numbers in the horizontal rows at their end. Here, the payout is 11 to 1.

Line/Six Number bet - Here, the chips are placed at the end of the line that lies between the two rows. Here, the payout given is 5 to 1.

Corner bet - This scenario takes place when the ships are placed between 4 numbers. Here, the payout is 8 to 1.

Five number bet - Here, the chips are placed between the numbers at the top in the first series and zeroes. Here, the payout is 6 - 1.

The other type of bet is the "Outside bets". Here, the bets are placed on the basis of how the pockets are grouped. Again, they are also calculated on the basis of colors of the pockets. Again, they are also calculated as per the odds and evens in the number. These kinds of bets are listed on a board outside the playing area. The first ones to be paid out here are the even number bets. They are paid at 1 to 1 odds.

The low numbers to place bets on include all the values between 1 and 18. Again, the high numbers for bets include 19 to 36. The players have to just put the bet on the box long with the name of the bet. On the three long columns, the bets are placed and are referred as the Column Bets. Payout for this is 2 to 1. If you opt for The Dozens, the bets are placed on one third of the numbers. The bets are placed as per the box, like 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and so on. The payout in this case will also be 2:1.
